Effect of Walnut Oligopeptides on Inhibiting Oxidative Stress and Inflammation of Sub-health Rats

  • Objective:This study aimed to evaluate the effects of walnut oligopeptides(WOPs)on sub-health rats and explore the possible underlying mechanism. Methods:Fifty male SD rats were randomly divided into five experimental groups including normal control group, model control group, and three WOPs intervention groups(220、440、880 mg/kg·bw). The rats in model control group and WOPs groups were sleep deprivation for five consecutive days, and the exhausted swimming time, serum biochemical indicators, inflammatory cytokines and expression of oxidative stress markers were measured. Results:It was observed that, compared with the model control group,WOPs could significantly prolong the swimming time, decrease the levels of serum alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),malondialdehyde(MDA),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)and interleukin-1β(TL-1β),and increase the activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD)and reduce glutathione(GSH)(P<0.05 or P<0.01). Conclusion:These findings suggested that WOPs have a significant protective effect on sub-health atatus, and the mechanism possibly mediated by the partial inhibition of oxidative stress and inflammatory cytokine level.
