Impact of graphene oxide on packaging performance of graphene oxide / chitosan composite film

  • The modified Hummer's method was used to produce the graphite oxide. After compositing the graphite oxide / chitosan( CS / GO) with different doping ratio,the CS / GO composite film was made by solution blending method.The composite film was initially represented by FTIR and XRD technology.Its mechanical properties such as water vapor transmittance,the oxygen resistance,the water- soluble and transparency were tested. The experience illustrates that there was strong hydrogen bonding interactions between chitosan molecules and oxygen- containing groups of graphite oxide. Inducing graphite oxide into the films could increase their tensile strength and water soluble,and reduce their water vapor transmittance,transparency and oxygen resistance,but couldnot effect on the breaking elongation much. Compared with pure chitosan film,the best integrated performance of composite film with volume ratio between CS membrane liquid and GO solution of 4 ∶ 6 could increase the tensile strength and water solubility by 38.8% and 17.9% respectively.In the meantime,the water vapor transmittance,oxygen resistance and transparency could be reduced by 16.9%,42.5% and 14.8% respectively.
