Fast determination of taurine in Mytilus edulis Linnaeus by high-performance liquid chromatography

  • Objective:To establish the method for fast determination of taurine in Mytilus edulis Linnaeus by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) .Methods:The content of taurine in Mytilus edulis Linnaeus was determined by HPLC at the FLD detector excitation and emission wavelengths of 330nm and 530nm through Agilent Zorbax 300SB-C 18 (4.6mm×250mm, 5μm) column with pre-column o-pthaldialdehyde derivatization. The column temperature was 30℃, methanol-acetonitrile-water (10:10:80) was used as the mobile phase at the flow rate of 0.8mL/min.The injection volume was 20μL.Results:The taurine was in the range of 4.0~20.0μg/mL with good linear correlation, correlation coefficient R 2 =0.9998, the recoveries were 96.65% ~101.20%, RSD = 1.57%.Conclusions:The determination method was accurate with good reproducibility. The retention time of taurine was 6.752min, the taurine content was 3673.631mg/kg wet weight. The method can be used for taurine contents determination in Mytilus edulis Linnaeus.
