Abstract:
Objective:To study the effect of
Polygonatum cyrtonema prescription extract on blood lipid in rats so as to provide basis for the development of health-care food. Methods:65 female SD rats were randomly divided into control group, model group, positive group (simvastatin, 2 mg/kg) and
Polygonatum cyrtonema prescription extract groups (30, 15, 7.5 g/kg). The control group was fed granulated forage, the other groups were fed high fat diet and given the corresponding drug gavage for 42 days. The levels of serum total cholesterol (TC), serum triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein (LDL-C), high density lipoprotein (HDL) were measured at the 2nd, 4th and 6th week after the blood was drawn from inner canthus. Results:Compared with the model group, the high dose group of
Polygonatum cyrtonema prescription extract could significantly decrease the level of TC and TG after 2 weeks (
p<0.05), significantly decreased LDL-C level and elevated HDL-C level after 4 weeks (
p<0.01). The level of TC, TG, LDL-C and HDL-C also improved significantly by middle and low dose groups of
Polygonatum cyrtonema prescription extract after 4 weeks (
p<0.05). Conclusion:
Polygonatum cyrtonema prescription extract had hypolipidemic effect.
