Abstract:
Objective:To investigate the inhibitory effects of bound phenolic extracts from
Lycopus lucidus Turcz.(
L. lucidus)on
α-glycosidase and pancreatic lipase. Methods:The phenolic content was determined by Folin-phenol method and phenolic extracts were purified through X-5 macroporous resin. Additionaly,HPLC was used to analyze the phenolic composition. The inhibitory effect of bound phenolic extracts on
α-glycosidase and pancreatic lipase were evaluated with inhibition rate as index. Results:The phenolic content of bound phenolics from
L. lucidus was in the range of 155.55~164.95 μg GAE/mg. Caffeic acid and rosmarinnic acid were the major pehnolic compounds with the content ranging from 40.67 to 72.18 and 22.01 to 46.22 μg/mg EDW,respectively. The IC
50 values of inhibitory effects on
α-glycosidase and pancreatic lipase were in the range of 2.0275~3.7538 and 1.4438~3.1030 mg/mL,respectively. Conclusion:Significant inhibitory effects of bound phenolics on
α-glycosidase and pancreatic lipase were observed and
L. lucidus could be used as
α-glycosidase and pancreatic lipase inhibitors.
