Abstract:
In this study,80 male mice were examined over a 4- week period of daily gavage feeding to study the effects of D- ribose compounds on the ability of mice to withstand fatigue. The mice were randomly divided into the saline control group, the ribose group, the ginseng and maca group, and the ribose compounds group. Each group was given the appropriate intervening measures, and the mice were evaluated at 0 hours and 24 hours after their movements to measure changes in lactic acid, urea nitrogen, and liver glycogen. The results showed that D- ribose and ribose compounds, during periods of extreme fatigue, could significantly extend the swimming time of mice( p < 0.05),and that ribose compounds could increase liver glycogen( p < 0.01) and decrease lactic acid( p < 0.01)and urea nitrogen concentration( p < 0.05).The results also confirmed that the compound d- ribose was better than the D- ribose or the ginseng and maca group in general terms and during period of extreme fatigue in mice,D- ribose and ribose compounded clearly possess anti- fatigue properties. With regards to long- term fatigue,D- ribose did not show clear anti- fatigue uses.
