Abstract:
The effects of polysaccharides from Codonopisis pilosula on glycemia and lipidemia in alloxan-induced diabetic rats were investigated in this study. The Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into six groups:blank control group, positive control group(metformin group, glibenclamide group, epinephrine group),diabetic model group, and CPP- treated groups( low-, medium-, and high- dosage). The CPP was continuous intragastric administration of polysaccharide 28 d, to investigated the effects of polysaccharides on blood glucose(FBG),glycosylated hemoglobin(Hb Alc),total cholesterol(TC) triglyceride(TG),high density lipoprotein( HDL) and low density liporotein( LDL) in alloxan-induced diabetic rats. The results showed that the CPP could significantly( p < 0. 01) reduced blood glucose in normal rats, could significantly reduced adrenaline induced hyperglycemia, could reduced the levels of FBG, Hb Alc, TC and TG in serum in alloxan-induced diabetic rats, and increased the concentrations of HDL significantly. In summary,CPP had effects on decreasing the blood glucose and adjusting the disorder of lipid metabolism in alloxan-induced diabetic rats.
