Abstract:
In the present study, the protective effects of polysaccharides from the leaves of Paris polyphylla(PPLPs)against aging in an accelerated aging mice model induced by D-galactose were investigated. A group of2- month- old C57 BL / 6J mice were treated daily with D- galactose, D- galactose combined with PPLPs,D-galactose combined with vitamin C(VC),and control buffer for 42 d. The results showed that compared with the model group, oral administration of D- galactose- induced aging mice with either PPLPs or VCboth significantly increased spleen indices(p<0.05),the m RNA expression levels of immune function related genes(T-bet,GATA,IFN-γ,IL-2,TNF-α,IL-4,and IL-10)(p<0.05) and the total superoxide dismutase(T-SOD),Cu Zn superoxide dismutase(Cu Zn-SOD),glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px) and catalase(CAT) in spleen tissue were significantly higher in both PPLPs and VCgroup than those in the model group(p<0.05);besides,the malondialdehyde(MDA) concentrations were decreased in PPLPs and VCgroup compared to those in the model group(p<0.05). The results indicated that PPLPs was able to enhance the immune function and improve the antioxidant capacities of mouse spleen tissue.
