Abstract:
Objective:The toxicological safety of glycosaminoglycan from Crassostrea Rivularis (CG) as a healthy food material was evaluation. Methods:Acute toxicity test, genetic toxicity test (Ames test, micronucleus test of born marrow in mice, sperm shape abnormality test in mice) were used in this study according to the procedures for toxicological assessment of food. Results:Acute toxicity test showed that the acute oral maximum tolerated doses (MTD) of CG to male and female rats were both more than 20.0g/kg body weight. All results of three genotoxicity tests were negative and no mutagenicity. Conclusion:Glycosaminoglycan from Crassostrea Rivularis (CG) was non-toxic substances based on the acute toxicity grading and non-genetic toxicity based on genotoxicity tests.
