Abstract:
Hot water, 85%, 95% ethanol precipitation were used to extract polysaccharides from Catathelasma ventricosum ( CVP- 85 and CVP- 95) , the monosaccharide composition were investigated, and the in vitro antioxidant activities were determined. The results showed that the yield of CVP- 85 and CVP- 95 was 9.57% ±0.23% and 5.02% ± 0.12%, respectively; the CVP- 85 was composed of mannose, glucose, galactose, fucose, glucuronic acid and galacturonic acid, in contrast, CVP- 95 was composed of mannose, rhamnose, glucose and galacturonic acid. The polysaccharide extracts possessed significant reducing power, as well as the strong DPPH radical, hydroxyl radical and ABTS radical scavenging activity, and the antioxidant activities of the extracts were significantly positive correlated with polysaccharide content ( p < 0.01) .
