Abstract:
Objective:To research the anti-oxidative activity of total flavonoids from Gongju (GTF) in aged mice.Method:GTF was administrated by gavage200, 400, 800mg/ (kg·d bw) to mice for 30d.The mice were then sacrificed, and the serum, liver and brain tissue were collected. The concentration of malondialdehyde (MDA) in the blood, liver and brain tissue and the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) , glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) , Catalase (CAT) , total antioxidant activity (T-AOC) in the serum and liver were then measured.Result:GTF produced a dose-dependent decrease of MDA in the serum, liver and brain tissue, at the same time a dose-dependent increase of activities of SOD, GSH-Px, CAT and T-AOC at all three doses in the blood and liver. Conclusion:GTF had antioxidant activity by protecting body against free radical-induced damage.
